Child law

Members of the Family Law team offer a wide range of expertise and a depth of experience in all areas of private law cases including complex and intractable matters with fact finding or expert evidence; Special Guardianship orders; the relocation of children within the UK and overseas; child abduction; and the representation of competent children.

We can deal with short-notice applications for emergency relief, injunctions and forced marriage applications.

Several team members have associated areas of practice including education and cases dealt with in the Court of Protection.

Recent authorities in which members of the team have been instructed include:

  • P v G (Family Law Act 1986: Jurisdiction) [2010] 2 FLR 1888; [2010] EWHC 1311 (Fam) – clarified the provisions of child law where English and Scottish jurisdictions are involved.

We regularly provide seminars on a range of topical matters and have CPD accreditation.

Members of the team accept instructions directly from lay clients in suitable cases under the Bar Council’s Public Access Scheme.
