Max Lansman specialises in employment, housing and child protection law. He also maintains a mixed civil practice and an interest in public law.

Employment

Max has a busy employment practice and has acted in over 100 employment cases for both individuals and businesses. He accepts instructions in all aspects of employment law and has experience in:

Max is passionate about employment rights and frequently acts for under-represented groups and on a pro bono basis. Max has written on employment matters for the ELA Briefing and frequently delivers training on employment law. He is happy to discuss a bespoke package to meet your requirements.

Max has been praised for the subtlety of his drafting and advice, swift merits assessments, tactical nous, forceful cross-examination, and for the outcomes he has obtained for his clients.

Property and housing

Max is instructed in a wide range of property disputes. His focus is on housing and social housing law.

Max frequently acts in possession and housing conditions proceedings, including those involving public law defences and the Equality Act 2010. He has a particularly good knowledge of discrimination law due to his interdisciplinary practice.

Max is particularly interested in homelessness and allocations law, having worked supporting a Cabinet Member for Housing at a London Borough before coming to the Bar and has written on and delivered training in this area.

Family

Max’s family practice focuses on public children law and niches within that specialism, including cases involving non-accidental injury, deprivation of liberty, and mental health issues.

Having gained experience in local government before coming to the Bar, Max is particularly interested in public children cases involving multiple public services or local authority functions.

Max also accepts instructions in private children, financial remedies, domestic abuse cases and those with an international element.

Within his family practice, Max has appeared in many fully contested, complex trials, including those involving multiple expert witnesses, and in urgent applications, including in the High Court. He acts for local authorities, parents, guardians, and independently represented children.
