Grace Cheng acted as sole arbitrator of the International Tribunal in two appeals concerning violations of a code of conduct at one of the world’s largest annual international tennis competitions.
The matter related to decisions taken against two members of the national tennis association by an onsite referee as a result of which fines were imposed.
As sole arbitrator, Grace had to consider:
- whether there was a breach of the code of conduct; and
- whether the fines imposed should be upheld.
Her decision was final and binding on all parties with no further right of appeal to any further body.
