Eleanor Sibley has been nominated for a junior pro bono barrister of the year award with Ravi Mehta of Blackstone Chambers. The pair were jointly nominated for their work on behalf of the intervenor (specialist legal charity, the Aire Centre) in a successful appeal to the Court of Appeal against disability living allowance (care component) being refused for a British child whose parent worked in Belgium.
Eleanor Sibley specialises in public and human rights, Court of Protection, and EU/Withdrawal Agreement law. Many of her cases concern people who lack mental capacity, are deprived of their liberty, and/or are seeking social welfare benefits or community care. The Court of Appeal has today handed down judgment in Harrington v Secretary of State for Work and Pensions [2023] EWCA Civ 433. Eleanor Sibley acted pro bono as junior counsel for the AIRE Centre (the intervener) in the case.
