Ebun Sanusi joined as a probationary tenant in January 2026.

She successfully completed pupillage with the Government Legal Department. During her time there, Ebun worked on a range of matters, primarily defending judicial review proceedings. (For her second six, she was seconded to Blackstone Chambers and gained experience across a broad range of public and civil matters and undertook advocacy on behalf of the Government Legal Department).

After pupillage, Ebun practised as an in-house barrister acting for various local authorities, developing substantial expertise in public children law proceedings.

Before joining the Bar, Ebun worked as a family and public law paralegal and founded a social enterprise supporting single parents.

Previous advocacy experience

  • Before joining chambers, Ebun worked as an in-house local authority advocate specialising in care proceedings. She conducted numerous hearings, including contested interim care order hearings and multi-day final hearings.
  • During pupillage, she represented the Government Legal Department in oral permission hearings at the Upper Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber).

Family law

Ebun represents and advises parties in public and private Children Act proceedings, as well as a broad range of Family Law Act matters. She acts at all stages of care proceedings.
 
Ebun approaches her cases with professionalism, care and sensitivity, particularly in complex and emotionally demanding proceedings involving children and vulnerable adults. She combines a measured and analytical approach, maintaining a clear focus on achieving the best possible outcome for her clients.
Recent cases :
  • Ebun represented the local authority in care proceedings involving serious allegations of non-accidental injury.
  • Ebun acted for the local authority in a four-day contested final hearing, involving allegations of neglect and failure to protect. Ebun successfully secured final orders in the local authority’s favour.
