Pupil barrister Madeleine Southey completed her 1st pro bono assignment fulfilling Advocate’s pupil pledge. Madeleine defended a vulnerable man with disabilities in an application for an anti-social behaviour injunction against him because of his refusal to give his landlord access to his home.

Timothy Carlisle acted for the defendant company which successfully resisted the 2 claimant companies’ application to enforce their third-tier loan security against its development site. The claimant companies applied for an order for sale of the land to enforce their loan security against the defendant, against its wishes and those of the top-tier chargee.
Rebecca Davis represented the successful respondent wife in divorce proceedings contested on the issue of jurisdiction. The parties had married in India under the Hindu Marriage Act. After the husband initiated divorce proceedings in India, the wife sought to issue an application for divorce in England and Wales.

Pupil barrister Harrison Engler has completed his 1st pro bono assignment fulfilling Advocate's pupil pledge. Harrison represented the mother of a child with disabilities in a dispute with the child's father about their daughter's schooling and contact arrangements.
Max Lansman acted for the local authority that successfully defended racial harassment claims by an ex-employee under the Equality Act 2010 (4-16). After a 4-day hearing the employment tribunal dismissed all the claims.
Joshua Swirsky acted for the successful local authority in an age assessment case in which the Upper Tribunal considered the correct approach to interim relief. The judgment is a reminder that saying ‘each case depends on its own facts’ and ‘interim relief is not automatic in age assessment cases’ are not just mantras.
Rebecca Handcock acted for the local authority in Court of Protection proceedings about the safeguarding of a vulnerable young man. He had been removed from his supported living facility by family members in breach of court orders. The local authority had had safeguarding responsibility for the 22-year-old man, A after its social workers raised serious concerns about the quality of care given to him when his mother was looking after him.
