Eleanor Sibley nominated for junior pro bono barrister of the year

Eleanor Sibley has been nominated for a junior pro bono barrister of the year award with Ravi Mehta of Blackstone Chambers.

The pair were jointly nominated for their work on behalf of the intervenor (specialist legal charity, the Aire Centre) in a successful appeal to the Court of Appeal against disability living allowance (care component) being refused for a British child whose parent worked in Belgium.

The junior pro bono barrister of the year award highlights the outstanding pro bono work of a junior barrister practising in any area of law.

They must have demonstrated significant commitment to the pro bono ethic over the last year, either by dedicating considerable time and expertise, or by undertaking cases that have a substantial impact on the client, community, or the access to justice sector.

About the Bar Pro Bono Awards

Since 1997, the Bar Pro Bono Awards have recognised the remarkable pro bono achievements of the Bar in England and Wales.

They recognise individuals and chambers that have gone above and beyond expectation when undertaking pro bono work to support access to justice.

Shortlisted nominees will be announced in April.

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Wednesday 8 May 2024.
