Field Court Chambers’ housing team are delighted to be delivering training in Cardiff with Hugh James Solicitors on the Equality Act 2010. The training will be delivered by Sarah McKeown and Sarah Salmon.
The Equality Act came into force on 1 October 2010. The Equality Act brings together over 116 separate pieces of legislation into one single act that provides a legal framework which protects the rights of individuals and advances equality of opportunity for all. The Act simplifies, strengthens and harmonises the previous legislation to provide a discrimination law which protects individuals from unfair treatment and promotes a fair and more equal society.
The Public Sector Equality Duty requires housing providers to give “due regard” to the need to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations where they exercise a public function.
For housing providers it can be a daunting and tricky act to navigate. We are therefore hosting an Equality Act masterclass to fully explain the duties and obligations imposed, and how as a housing provider, you can discharge those duties and obligations in a practical and focused way.
Hugh James’ masterclass will unpick the highly complex nature of this act and provide you with the practical tools and hints to help you with day-to-day issues.
Spaces for the masterclass training will be limited and are on a first come first served basis - book now here.
