Francis Hoar has been shortlisted for a Legal 500 Bar Award in the category of 'government and third sector junior of the year'. Award winners will be announced on Wednesday 5 October.

Applications have opened for the second intake of students on the planning and public law mentoring scheme for underrepresented groups at the Bar. The scheme aims to encourage undergraduates and postgraduates from groups that are not well represented at the Bar to consider becoming barristers.

John Hamilton is leaving chambers following his appointment as a Judge of the First Tier Tribunal, Asylum and Immigration Chamber. He takes up his role this month.

In May, the Home Secretary appointed Francis Hoar to sit on the panel shortlisting and interviewing candidates for Metropolitan Police commissioner. Sir Mark Rowley started in the role today.

We are delighted to welcome Aristide Hoang-Brown who starts his pupillage with us this week. Aristide achieved a Distinction/Outstanding in his Barrister Training Course (BTC). For 18 months after his law degree, he worked as a paralegal in a busy family law firm. Since completing his BTC he has been working as a County Court advocate.

We are delighted to announce that Joanna Thom has joined us as a tenant after completing pupillage with us. Joanna trained in a range of areas of law and plans to focus on public, housing, family and employment law.
