We are delighted to welcome Madeleine Southey and Harrison Engler who start their pupillage with us this week.
About Harrison Engler
Harrison has a First Class degree in History from St Hugh’s College, University of Oxford. He won the HWC Davis Award in his first year for the highest mark across the university.
Additionally, Harrison was awarded:
- the Astbury Scholarship for the GDL by Middle Temple
- the South Square Scholarship for the Bar Vocational Studies (BVS) by Middle Temple
- the City Law School Scholarship for Academic Excellence for the BVS
He studied the GDL and BVS at City University, London, and gained Distinctions in both.
He has a background in charity and youth education work. As national director of Habonim Dror UK from 2020-2022, he led a successful campaign to persuade government to change Covid regulations for residential youth activities.
About Madeleine Southey
Madeleine has a 2.1 in Law from Trinity College, University of Cambridge and an LLM (Distinction) from the University of Law.
She was awarded an Exhibition Scholarship from Inner Temple to undertake the Bar Practice Course at the University of Law. On the BPC she achieved a 'Very Competent', including an 'Outstanding' in her civil litigation and in her criminal litigation BSB papers.
In 2022, she was a finalist in the Inner Temple Lawson Moot.
As part of her LLM, Madeleine studied medical law and ethics. She has previously worked as a helpline adviser for the charity IPSEA providing legal advice to parents of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
Madeleine has a particular interest in Court of Protection and family law proceedings.
