For the 2nd year running, our family law barristers are on the Child Abduction Lawyers’ Association pro bono duty advocate rota. The CALA duty advocates scheme aims to advise and assist litigants in person in international cases in the High Court (which generally involve child abduction).
We are proud we will be an exhibitor at Family Law Week's public and private children law conference on Thursday 24 October. The conference will be held at Cavendish Conference Centre in London.
Our family law barristers have joined the Child Abduction Lawyers’ Association pro bono duty advocate rota. Accordingly during the month of September, the scheme’s volunteer duty solicitors will be able to refer relevant cases to us. The CALA duty advocates scheme aims to advise and assist litigants in person in international cases in the High Court. Generally cases involve child abduction.
Lauren Suding represented the child through his guardian in care proceedings where the parents had misled the court and professionals so that the child had unsupervised contact with his father (a paedophile). After analysing the benefits and drawbacks of adoption compared to long-term fostering, The judge agreed with the local authority and guardian and concluded that an adoption plan was necessary.
A team of our barristers will take part in the 10km London Legal Walk in one week's time. They will walk with more than 10,000 others to raise funds for free legal services across London and the South East.
