Our family law barristers have joined the Child Abduction Lawyers’ Association pro bono duty advocate rota. Accordingly during the month of September, the scheme’s volunteer duty solicitors will be able to refer relevant cases to us. The CALA duty advocates scheme aims to advise and assist litigants in person in international cases in the High Court. Generally cases involve child abduction.

Additionally, we continue to be ranked as a set for our social housing law expertise and are ranked for our family: children practice. Thank you to all our clients for your support during the year and particular thanks to everyone who gave feedback on our barristers.
Barry McAlinden acted for a mother in private law children proceedings. Following her allegations against her ex-partner, the court made findings of physical abuse and coercive control, which were sent to the CPS. The father was charged with assault and coercive control and argued the child law proceedings should be adjourned as he would be unable to address the findings of fact as he would have to exercise his privilege against self-incrimination (in respect of the related criminal proceedings).
