Francis Hoar acted for the local authority in the High Court at a review hearing about a body being buried against the wishes of the spouse. The body remained unburied after the coroner’s finding of suicide, as the spouse threatened court action, including an s.13 application to review the coroner's decsion. The spouse's application for disclosure against third parties was dismissed and the Master ordered that the matter be listed for trial.
Ryan Anderson acted for RSL and 2 of its directors in successfully defending a multi-strand claim brought by a former senior employee and managing director (an immediate family member of the other directors). The Employment Tribunal dismissed all claims

Max Thorowgood represented a group of neighbours who successfully brought a private nuisance claim against a property development company. The neighbours claimed that nearby works caused significant disturbances which interfered with their enjoyment of their properties. They were awarded damages to compensate for these disturbances.

Nikolas Clarke acted for the local authority in an inquest into the death of DF, a 21-month-old child. The local authority had had a care order in place concerning DF and his twin when DF died of respiratory failure and cardiac arrest.
Lauren Suding represented the child through his guardian in care proceedings where the parents had misled the court and professionals so that the child had unsupervised contact with his father (a paedophile). After analysing the benefits and drawbacks of adoption compared to long-term fostering, The judge agreed with the local authority and guardian and concluded that an adoption plan was necessary.

Pupil barrister Madeleine Southey completed her 1st pro bono assignment fulfilling Advocate’s pupil pledge. Madeleine defended a vulnerable man with disabilities in an application for an anti-social behaviour injunction against him because of his refusal to give his landlord access to his home.
