Barry McAlinden and Rebecca Davies will deliver a webinar for Family Law Week subscribers on s.37 Children Act and local authority intervention in private law children cases. They will discuss the court’s powers under section 37 Children Act and when the court can use its power to direct a local authority to investigate a child’s circumstances.

For the 2nd year running, our family law barristers are on the Child Abduction Lawyers’ Association pro bono duty advocate rota. The CALA duty advocates scheme aims to advise and assist litigants in person in international cases in the High Court (which generally involve child abduction).

Rebecca Davies will argue against the motion 'The Law Commission is right – our Financial Remedy law is outmoded and needs fundamental change’ at Family Law Week’s financial remedy: practice & procedure conference on Tuesday 11 March.
Rebecca Davies acted pro bono for a mother who wished to have contact with her son after her release from prison. The case was referred to Rebecca by Not Beyond Redemption.
Rebecca represented a child through her guardian in lengthy and acrimonious private law proceedings. Rebecca successfully obtained an order for child arrangements that reflected all her client (the guardian’s) recommendations. She also obtained a family assistance order despite the local authority’s opposition.
