Family law group on Child Abduction Lawyers’ Association pro bono duty advocate scheme for September

Our family law barristers have joined the Child Abduction Lawyers’ Association pro bono duty advocate rota. Accordingly during the month of September, the scheme’s volunteer duty solicitors will be able to refer relevant cases to us. The CALA duty advocates scheme aims to advise and assist litigants in person in international cases in the High Court. Generally cases involve child abduction.

Francis Hoar represents Westminster City Council in High Court review concerning burial of a body against spouse’s wishes

Francis Hoar acted for the local authority in the High Court at a review hearing about a body being buried against the wishes of the spouse. The body remained unburied after the coroner’s finding of suicide, as the spouse threatened court action, including an s.13 application to review the coroner's decsion. The spouse's application for disclosure against third parties was dismissed and the Master ordered that the matter be listed for trial.
