Seven of our barristers included in 2026 Pro Bono Recognition List

20 April 2026

We are proud that 7 of our barristers are named in the 2026 Pro Bono Recognition list of England and Wales, published today.
Francis Hoar, Keith ChipatoRyan Anderson, Aristide Hoang-Brown, Joanna Thom, Madeleine Southey and Harrison Engler appear on the list.

Now in its 3rd year, the list is an initiative endorsed by the Lady Chief Justice with the sponsorship of the Attorney General’s Pro Bono Committee and the support of The Law Society, Bar Council and all major pro bono legal organisations.

It recognises solicitors and barristers across England and Wales who have given 25 hours or more of their time to work pro bono over the past year.

Examples of pro bono work completed in the last 12 months:

  • Keith Chipato volunteers for half a day each month at Chelmsford Law Clinic advising on general housing law matters.
  • Ryan Anderson, instructed by the Work Rights Centre, represented pro bono an employee to successfully secure him a £25,000 award for unpaid wages. The employee, a sponsored healthcare worker had relocated to the UK from India, but was not paid over a 13-month period and ultimately had to leave the UK.
  • Madeleine Southey acted in a sex discrimination and sexual harassment case referred to her via Pro Bono Connect. Her representation resulted in her client receiving an award of more than £54,000 in compensation
